National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a voluntary youth organization working under the Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. It aims to inculcate discipline, a sense of unity, and patriotism among the youth and trains them for the nation-building process by developing leadership traits and comradeship. NCC Army Unit of Govt. College Kottayam is an NCC senior division wing attached to the 16 Kerala Battalion NCC Unit under the Kottayam Group of Kerala and Lakshadweep Directorate. The unit has a sanctioned strength of 108 cadets. This NCC unit is led by Lt. Sanoop Salam T A, Assistant Professor of Geology. 

The Unit conducts regular parades at the college level for preparing the cadets for the ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificate examinations. Apart from participation at annual training camps organized by the NCC Battalion, cadets of the unit also participated in various national camps like Republic Day Camp, Thal Sainik Camp, National Integration Camp, EBSB Camp, Army Attachment Camp, Trekking Camp, Mountaineering Camp, Rock Climbing camp in the past years.

Cadets of the NCC Unit also undertake a lot of socially committed activities, some of which include cleaning public areas, campaigns, and rallies among the public to create awareness of various social and developmental issues.
